This Father’s Day

The fifth commandment in the Holy Bible says: Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. This commandment is one of the only ones that gives you a reason to observe it. I say that’s an important commandment! In today’s society fathers get a bad name. So many single parent households led by mothers ;has dictated a negative light on Father’s. If we’d just take heed to the fifth commandment I believe things would change. Let’s define honor: to demonstrate high respect or esteem for someone. Simply giving respect because he is your father and do it in love. You may not always agree with him. Perhaps he was not always there. He may have been a part time parent. He may have made mistakes which led him to live a criminal life. He may have been incarcerated. He may even have lived a life of addiction.Whatever the situation . As believers we should stand on the fifth commandment and practice honoring our Dads in whatever state they may be in. It could be the beginning of breaking generational curses in your family. This Father’s Day let’s love and honor our fathers. Send a card, make s phone call, do a salute on social media. Thank him for just being your Dad. If you have a great relationship with your father; reinforce the love you all already share. These gestures according to the word of God could be the beginning of you having a long life. This is just food for thought.

High School Graduates of 2022!

Congratulations to the high school graduates of 2022!This is an exciting time in your life. You have come to the end of an era!! It is definitely a new beginning. Pre K to 12th grade! Just take a few minutes and think back on the times you said “I cannot wait until all of this is over”. Look !!It has happened in a blink of an eye. There comes a point in all of the celebrating you start to have ambivalent feelings, you are joyful, overwhelmed, elated, sad, and afraid. These feelings are perfectly normal. Embrace each one and walk them out.
It is a major accomplishment to graduate high school. There are so many careers to choose. You can pursue anything from an Astronaut to a Zoologist. You have to decide what your passion is. The one thing you enjoy doing that comes naturally. You should set a goal, devise a plan and start your journey. Just know there will be obstacles along the way. However, obstacles are designed for you to walk around them, walk over them, or walk through them. Keep in mind, there is victory after every obstacle! Hallelujah!! I had to take a praise break! The key is to keep moving forward.
We celebrate your success of completing high school . We encourage you to continue on this road of success! Keep God at the head of your life. Godspeed to you.

Depression can be defeated!

We often find ourselves at some point in our lives in a state of depression! There are many reasons for this unkind emotion. The loss of a love one, getting fired, a divorce, retiring, moving to a new place, wayward children, illness .. the list can go on and on. These life events tend to beoverwhelming! If they are not dealt with properly we could find ourselves in a state of depression. We begin to isolate ourselves from people we love, we may comfort eat, or not eat at all .We become fatigued, loneliness sets in.Sometimes sleeping becomes our companion. We start caring less and less about our appearance and personal hygiene.Unfortunately when we allow theses types of behavior to continue without seeking help depression can lead to suicidal thoughts our even the act itself. We can defeat this type of behavior in several ways. First remembering and believing who God says we are. The word says in Psalms 139 verse14: I praise you. For I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Romans 8 verse 37 says No. In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us. If we meditate and believe on just these verses we know that we can beat depression. Other ways to defeat it is to get up and out into Gods land and breathe his air.1. Exercise. Get the body doing something fun.2. Drink plenty of water/ hydrate3. Eat healthy. The old saying “ an apple a day keeps the doctor away “ may have a bit of truth in it.4. Get a massage5. Take a yoga classThese are just a few suggestions. It is always in order to seek medical help . Talk to your doctor ; you may need medication or Therapy. Whatever the solution is; just know you are not alone. Depression Can be Defeated. Let’s be diligent in taking care of ourselves. This is just food for thought.OYP,Blessings

Aging Gracefully

Aging! Let’s talk about it. It is defined as : the process of becoming old. Being a seasoned woman myself. I’d like to define it as the process of getting wiser, the process of truly knowing who you are and not being afraid to walk in it. It comes to a point where you really don’t care about how other people see you, only how you see yourself and what value you bring to those around you.Life teaches you so much. We have an abundant amount of knowledge to impart on the younger generation. The term “old” places unspoken limits on a person. It causes others to see you in a negative light; therefore they miss out on valuable information. If you are Blessed to have a seasoned saint in your life. Cherish them, talk to them, explore the riches they have to share with you. Please don’t toss them aside as  a nuisance or treat them like a child. It’s truly a disrespect to them and a disservice to yourself

You are missing out on a wealth of love, comfort, wisdom, humor and so much more. As it has been so often said: aging is a privilege denied to many.Just keep living and perhaps you will become a member of the club! This was just a little food for thought.
