This Father’s Day

The fifth commandment in the Holy Bible says: Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. This commandment is one of the only ones that gives you a reason to observe it. I say that’s an important commandment! In today’s society fathers get a bad name. So many single parent households led by mothers ;has dictated a negative light on Father’s. If we’d just take heed to the fifth commandment I believe things would change. Let’s define honor: to demonstrate high respect or esteem for someone. Simply giving respect because he is your father and do it in love. You may not always agree with him. Perhaps he was not always there. He may have been a part time parent. He may have made mistakes which led him to live a criminal life. He may have been incarcerated. He may even have lived a life of addiction.Whatever the situation . As believers we should stand on the fifth commandment and practice honoring our Dads in whatever state they may be in. It could be the beginning of breaking generational curses in your family. This Father’s Day let’s love and honor our fathers. Send a card, make s phone call, do a salute on social media. Thank him for just being your Dad. If you have a great relationship with your father; reinforce the love you all already share. These gestures according to the word of God could be the beginning of you having a long life. This is just food for thought.
Blessings,
