Cast includes Kingsley Ben-Adir as civil rights activist Malcolm X, @therealEliGoree as professional boxer and civil rights activist Cassius Clay (before becoming Muhammad Ali), @Aldis_Hodge as NFL champion, actor and civil rights activist Jim Brown, and Grammy and Tony Award winner Leslie Odom, Jr. as singer/songwriter, entrepreneur and civil rights activist Sam Cooke. @castingwithkim One Night in Miami is set on the night of Feb. 25, 1964, and imagines a young Cassius Clay after in real life he became the new heavyweight boxing champion of the world following his surprise defeat of Sonny Liston. The movie dramatization portrays Clay facing Jim Crow-era segregation laws that force him to stay the night at the Hampton House Motel in Miami’s African American Overtown neighborhood. Regina's stage-to-screen adaptation then has Clay celebrate his win with Malcolm X, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown as they discuss their responsibilities in moving the country forward to equality and empowerment for all African Americans.
